1999.

I can’t really say this is a surprise this morning, what with all the talk (and drinking) of tequila last night. Just as well there was that extra hour during the night.

From the album Shaving Peaches, this wasn’t actually meant to be a single release for Terrorvision and caused a great deal of controversy amongst the band’s fans. Having originally given members of their official fan club a selection of songs to vote for as the next single, the result was an overwhelming win for Day After Day. However, this song caught the attention of Radio 1 DJ Zoe Ball who began to push for it be released as a single. Consequently plans for the original single release were shelved and a video was hastily filmed for this song.

Despite the disappointment of their fan club members, this went on to give the band their biggest hit. It spent thirteen weeks on the UK chart, reaching number two, and was voted Best Single at the 1999 Kerrang! Awards.
