Oh, it had to be really, didn’t it? I think my head has done me proud this morning, although the only thing white about today will be the table cloths. No frilly frocks, that’s for sure!

This is one of Billy Idols best known songs and one of his most successful. It spent sixteen weeks on the UK charts, peaking at number six. The only other song to equal that success was Rebel Yell in 1985.

The video was directed by David Mallet, who also worked with Queen and David Bowie, and featured Idol’s then girlfriend Perri Lister. It caused controversy at the time due to the scenes of the barbed wire wedding ring, a motorbike crashing through a church window and leather clad dancers slapping their own backsides in time to the music. Idol apparently claimed “That’s the kind of thing they love in England.”
