Yes, a little less conversation is always a sensible suggestion first thing in the morning, at least until I’ve had coffee anyway.

Originally written by US singer/songwriters Mac Davis and Billy Strange, this was first performed by Elvis in the 1968 film Live a Little, Love a Little. Shortly before that, in September 1968, it was released as the B-side to Almost in Love but the single only made it as far as number sixty-nine on the US chart.

In 2002 the song was resurrected and re-mixed by Dutch musician Tom Holkenborg, a.k.a Junkie XL, following the song featuring in the 2001 film Ocean’s Eleven. In fact, Holkenborg became the first artist to gain permission from the Elvis Presley estate to remix one of his songs.

On its release this version became an international success, reaching the top ten in twenty-four countries and number one in thirteen of those. The only exception, strangely enough, was the US where it only reached number fifty.
