Groovin’ along with Creedence Clearwater Revival just feels so right for a Sunday morning, don’t you think?

Written by John Fogerty, in about twenty minutes allegedly, this was released during the height of the Vietnam War and soon became an anthem of the anti-war movement at the time. It was never intended as an anti-war song though, rather criticising the unfairness of the class system. Fogerty himself is quoted as saying “It’s the old saying about rich men making war and poor men having to fight them.”

It was released as the B Side to Down on the Corner and the two songs combined spent fifteen weeks on the US charts, peaking at number three. Here in the UK it spent six weeks on the chart but only managed to reach number thirty-one.
