Yes please! I’m curious though, is there enough to keep me sedated until the next general election?

Credited to Dee Dee, Joey and Johnny Ramone, this was first released as the B-Side to She’s the One and featured on the group’s fourth album Road to Ruin. The song was allegedly inspired after Joey burned himself with hot water and had to be treated in hospital, whilst the chorus was written in London during their 1977/78 tour. With the city shut down for Christmas, the band were stuck in their hotel room with ‘nothing to do’ and ‘nowhere to go’.

The song was released as single in the Netherlands and the US, but despite not appearing to have made the charts, anywhere, this has gone on to be one of their best known songs. Even ten years after the first release, the song was still popular enough for the band to make the music video.

Incidentally, none of the band members are related, despite all appearing to share the same surname. They all adopted pseudonyms ending with Ramone, partly in tribute to Paul McCartney who apparently checked into hotels under the name Paul Ramon.
