Can’t say this is a surprise, not when you have some jumped up little Dobby riding roughshod over peaceful nations. It’s just despicable…and there’s nothing the West can do because the maniac has a big button and we’re all scared of him. It’s not often I get political in here, but this just beyond dreadful. My heart goes out to the people of Ukraine. This shouldn’t have been allowed to happen.

Moving on to more trivial things (’cause that’s how it feels this morning), this was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong, with the original intention of The Temptations recording it. There were fears though that the song may alienate some of their more conservative fans and instead the song was recorded by Edwin Starr. His version was more intense than the original and became one of the most popular counter-culture protest songs ever recorded.

On it’s release the song made it to number one in the US and Canada whilst here in the UK it spent twelve weeks on the charts and peaked at number three.
