17 October, 1988.

Well, why just pick any old group when you can have a supergroup instead?

This was originally written as an additional track for the European release of George Harrison’s 1988 single This is Love.  Harrison called on Jeff Lynne, who was co-producing Harrison’s album Cloud Nine at the time, to help him record it and Lynne in turn invited Roy Orbison along.

Stay with me, there’s more. With Lynne and Orbison on board, Harrison then got in touch with Bob Dylan to see if they could use his studio for recording. Finally, Tom Petty was invited along to the session after Harrison went to pick up his guitar from Petty’s house….and that’s how the Travelling Wilburys were formed.

When Harrison’s record label heard the song they claimed it was far too good for just an album filler or B-Side and so this became the debut single for the Travelling Wilburys, released from the album Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1

It went on to give the group a top ten hit in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Belgium whilst here in the UK, it spent sixteen weeks on the charts and peaked at number twenty-one – making this their most successful single to date.
