Another one of those bands that everybody seems to rave about but I just never got. Personally I’ve always thought there music was a bit ‘meh’, but that’s just down to individual taste. Clearly the hype was justified though as the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

Written by Debbie Harry and Nigel Harrison the song was inspired by an ex-boyfriend of Harry’s who stalked her after their relationship ended. It was the fourth single from the 1978 album Parallel Lines but was only ever released in the US, reaching number twenty-four in the chart, and Canada where it gave them a top-ten hit and peaked at number seven.

In 2013 Blondie’s original version finally made an appearance on the UK charts following the release of One Direction‘s cover for Comic Relief, but it only reached number ninety-eight.
