Anybody for some German synthpop this morning? No, it wouldn’t have been my first choice either. I have a vague recollection of hearing this before, somewhere in the dim and distant past, but once again it’s been a morning of frantic Googling with only half a line of lyrics as a clue. I got there in the end though.

Written by Claudia Brücken, Ralf Dörper and Michael Mertens this was the second single released by German group Propaganda, from their debut album A Secret Wish. At the time the band were one of the original line up of acts signed to Trevor Horn’s newly created ZZT record label.

The song provided the group with a top-ten hit in Italy and the Netherlands whilst in the UK it spent thirteen weeks on the charts and peaked at number twenty-one, becoming their most successful release in the UK to date.
