Oh god, the inner jukebox is in a perky mood this morning. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for Girl Power, I would just rather not have it in my head first thing on a morning.

Written by the Spice Girls along with producers Paul Wilson and Andy Watkins, better known as Absolute production team, this was the fourth and final single release from the group’s debut album Spice and was released as a double A-Side with Mama.

On its release the song became a top ten hit in nine countries and reached the top twenty in a further five. Here in the UK it spent twenty weeks on the chart, including three weeks at number one, and was the fourth consecutive Spice Girls single to reach the top of the charts, making them the first act in UK chart history to have their first four singles reach number one.
