4 February 1974.

Well, what else were you expecting on a day when time wants to mess with our heads?

As songs about time go, there is probably none with lyrics so poignant as Pink Floyd gave us with this.

“And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.”

It happens to us all though, doesn’t it? You wake up one day and realise you’re ten or twenty years further down the road…and you didn’t even notice the scenery changing! Such is life eh?

From the album Dark Side of the Moon this is the only song on the album, and indeed the last song ever, to be credited to all four members of Pink Floyd, it was also the last song to feature Richard Wright on vocals until Wearing the Inside Out on the 1994 album The Division Bell.

This was released as the B-Side to Us and Them in the US and also Canada, where it peaked at number eighty-five in the chart.
