Don’t you just love it when your own head is taking the piss out of you. Calm down boys, we need to learn to hobble on crutches properly before we can talk about walking…and maybe then only as far as the corner shop (which is only about ten or twenty paces). Let’s not be too ambitious eh?

Written in about forty-five minutes by Craig Reid, this has become the duo’s biggest hit to date, with the earnings from this one song being five times greater than the rest of their catalogue combined.

On its original release the song reached number one in Iceland and Australia whilst here in the UK it spent twenty-five weeks on the chart and peaked at number eleven.

After being included in the soundtrack for the film Benny & Joon it was released as a single in the US in 1993 and reached the top five.

In 2007 the song was re-recorded by the Proclaimers, along with Peter Kay and Matt Lucas, for Comic Relief and this time the song spent thirteen weeks on the chart including three weeks at number one.
