12 October, 1992.

Wow, we really are in the doldrums betwixt Christmas and New Year, aren’t we?! I have to say, I just never got the whole Smiths and Morrisey thing, it just all sounded a little too morose for me I’m afraid.

Written by Johnny Marr and Morrisey this featured on the 1986 album The Queen Is Dead, however, due to a dispute between the band and their record label at the time Rough Trade Records, the song was not released as a single until 1992 when it was used to promote the release of the compilation album …Best II, five years after the band had split up.

On its release the song spent three weeks on the UK chart and peaked at number twenty-five. It would be the last time The Smiths would have a UK top-forty hit.
