May 1964.

Yep, Dusty’s feeling the mood this morning as another day dawns and still no sign of our missing boy (cat).

Written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach, this was originally recorded by Dionne Warwick in 1962 and featured on her 1963 debut album Presenting Dionne Warwick. It was first released as the B-Side to Warwick’s single This Empty Place but became a charting single in it’s own right in France, where it reached number seventy-nine on the charts.

In 1964 Dusty Springfield had a meeting with Burt Bacharach, who managed to persuade her to record the song despite her ambivalence towards it. Although it didn’t make the charts here in the UK, it did prove to be a hit in the US where it reached number six on the Billboard chart.
