Love it! Stomping into another day with those big ole tiger feet. Well, actually, they’re not that big really (size four) and they’re nothing like a tiger’s either. Not quite as furry. Still, we can carry on stomping, just with smaller and more human feet instead.

Written by songwriting superstars of the 70s and early 80s Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn, who wrote a string of hits for the likes of The Sweet, Suzi Quatro and Smokie, this was a 1974 release from Mud (yes, the same Mud who gave us Lonely this Christmas).

On its release this became a huge success for the group, reaching the top ten across Europe with number ones in Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands. Here in the UK it spent eleven weeks on the chart, including four weeks at number one, making this the first of three UK number one hits for the group (followed later the same year with Lonely this Christmas and Oh Boy in 1975).

This would go on to become the biggest selling UK record of 1974 with over 700,000 copies sold. Globally it went on to sell over a million copies.
