Another trip down memory lane this morning, to a time when double denim was still acceptable and hair was big…and that was just the blokes!

Written by bass player Rachel Bolan and guitarist Dave Sabo, this was the debut single from Skid Row’s self-titled debut album. Lead singer Sebastian Bach believed the song could be big, even before he joined the band. He had been sent a demo tape by the existing members, along with an invitation to join them, and this track was his favourite. So much so that he had the title tattooed on his arm, long before they had a record contract, or even a manager.

Despite the song becoming one of their best known, and most enduring songs, it was never hugely successful as a single. On it’s original release it only reached number ninety-nine on the US charts, whilst here in the UK it spent three weeks on the chart and peaked at number forty-two. It was re-released in 1992 when it spent a further four weeks on the chart and managed to reach number twenty-two.
