November, 1979.

It never ceases to amaze me that the inner jukebox doesn’t just pick a song, it picks different versions of songs. I know we’ve had the Dusty original before now, many times, so it’s nice to have a little bit of a change.

Originally written by British songwriters and musicians Mike Hawker and Ivor Raymonde, this was of course a top ten hit for Dusty Springfield back in 1963, reaching number four on the UK charts.

In 1979 The Tourists released their version which spent fourteen weeks on the UK chart and once again peaked at number four. It would be the biggest selling single of their career, before the group disbanded in 1980 and Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart went on to form the Eurythmics – and the rest, as they say, is history.
